Pumpkin Patch Outing

Oh hurray W and his parents came to visit Little Sir all the way from Utah, the King is coming to visit next week too. We need an excurision and it being the month of pumpkins you can guess what we decided to do. Now the daughters both have wee ones we have to have pumpkins to celebrate Halloween and what better way to do that than visit the hugest pumpkin patch around. (excuse the hugest, it’s kid talk coming out) After 2 days the daughters and babies are almost in sync with feeding and changing so there is an open window of time that a mission can be accomplished. Thence forth we proceeded to the CravenFarms Pumpkin Patch. The Queen was so happy to be a part of this historic outing she almost peeed her pants. You know excitement, age, babies all that great stuff that mothers and queens are exposed to. Ah yes, check out this Pumpkin Patch. This is the biggest Radio Flyer in the World or at least all of Seattle. And Walter was really having a great time, we were not torturing him.

We all liked the pumpkins, and dinner was even better. That would be Italian cooked by an Asian Chef thus the name of the restaurant “Why Not” only in Italian Perche’No. The owners are great we chatted with them and they took great care of us. Our seasonal entrees’ included Osterich filets with pine nuts and Belgium Chocolate, Swordfish with olives and capers, and then a tasty standard of Fetacine Pescatori. Sorry don’t know how to spell these. Our desserts, well hope you have the opportunity to go and try all of them. chocolate lasagna, poached pear, italian flan.

Yes the Queen is still in Seattle, and we are all doing well, with reinforcements coming this week I will be heading back to the home front.

Sir J H has arrived…Fanfare….DaaDaDa!!

Wow what a night, the pit drip did not create labor only a backache.  Then the Duchesses BP went up and she got a fever and then all H E double toothpicks broke loose and there was a c section taking place.  For a premie JH came in at 7# 8 oz. 18 inches long. Wow what would  full term have produced.  Anyway the placenta went to the lab to be analyzed and the Duchess is glad to be rid of it.

Baby is in prenatal nursery with an iv for a couple days to make sure there is no infection thats why he has a splint on his tiny little arm. Mom is doing very well and the Queen and  Duke are exhausted.Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

the hospitalPhoto Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Well on with the story of the week that you are all holding your breath for.  Thur we started induction, we all went to the hospital and the Duchess was administered and Miso ( You have to do your own research if you don’t know what this is) I can’t say let alone spell this medical stuff)  Then she was supposed to be released to spend the day at home and seeing if this would start the birthing process. Low and behold we had 2 very attentive nurses who were new to birthing and they were overly protective about baby risk, the problem being JH didn’t like the monitor so he kept moving or kicking it and that would foul the read out up.  The nurses wouldn’t unplug  the Duchess so they stayed at the hospital until 5 pm not being able to eat.  I took lunch done to the Duke and we did sneak a few bites to the Duchess.  When the Dr came he said all was fine and go home.  Unfortunatle that was about 5:45 the miso hadn’t done much. It took all three of us to haul the stuff be had brought in,  I think they were planning on staying.

Day 2

We again packed lots of stuff into the hospital, but not as much as day 1 we are getting better, we left most of the stuff in the car.  We again administer and inducing misoproctal.  I have just about enough time to go back to the house and the Duke calls and says we are released hurray and pick us up before they change their minds.  This time the stuff worked until about 5:30 in the afternoon, but the Duchesses body didn’t kick in anymore. The good thing  is JH is growing stronger all the time. The Duke breaking in the new rocker, the Duchess and the dogs working on getting JH into this world.Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketPhoto Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketPhoto Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketPhoto Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Day 3

Not good news the hospital calls and cancels our induction date because the specialized neo-nate nurse had a family emergency.  This is a long day of waiting, but about 9 pm the Duchesses water decides to give way.  Hurry send them to the hospital.

Day 4  Waiting!!!Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket!!!!!!!! Stay tuned.

Seattle Skies Visit

Just so everyone can stay up to date, I am in Seattle waiting for JH to arrive at the Duchess & Dukes.  Hurray for babies,  W is being very brave while I am gone and P Diddy and Sister Sue will have to visit the King and go on Rhino rides without me for awhile.   I’m nesting for the Duchess so all is well.  We have been so busy we have hardly had time to knit and there has been no spinning at all.  We did have a lovely day of tea though.

Spinning, Spinning Merrily,Merrily, Life is but a dream.

Oh my i took my spinning wheel with me on R&R.  And look what i produced.  Not bad for a crazy queen.   And if you want to see pictures of W you will have to go to the Princess blog, because i forget to take pictures when he is here.  I just hold him and he snuggles.  mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.   Lovely.

And then you can see that i have been knitting, to reclain some of my needles.  The inventory sheet says we have lots of sizes, but they are not home, they are all off wondering around unfinished projects.  I don’t have that many ufo’s do I, well off to knit and get ready to head for Seattle.  Do you think i will find trouble to get into up there?
Stay tuned…Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketPhoto Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketCan you believe i’m still knitting kitchen clothes. I really like to try out new color combinations and it’s easy. Yes..Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketThis is small and portable, and very classy.
The spinning has produced beautiful singles. I love it.Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
And then the socks are finished just in time to take to humid freezing Seattle.

Jael the Leader

After returning from a wedding down in St George, where it never rains except on the wedding day.  Happily it was in St George because when it stopped raining about 3 pm it cleared up and the sun came out.  The wedding was saved and it was beautiful.  The Bride of course, was beautiful, the groom was beaming and the sunset was to die for.  Anyway Justin is part of the family, so we had to celebrate with him beside the youngest of the King and Queens was bestman.  So after returning I had mail from the Schacht Fleece Farm on Jael.  She is becoming quite the leader, witch is a good quality but not one that all lambs show.  Icelandic sheep have a strain known as leadersheep, they are more fine boned and taller than other Icelandic sheep.  They do actually lead or gather the other sheep and direct their path.  It has been  very hard work on the farm this summer becasue of the lack of rain.  I am so glad that the shepherdess is such a marvelous tender and cares so deeply for all her flock.  Jael and her friends have been weaned for a few weeks now, and that went well.  The farm tried a new weaning process that seperated the ewes and the lambs and so they didn’t cry for each other during the weaning process, it worked out well.  Jael has worked hard to produce her new fleece.  It is currently between four and five inches in length.  I’m so excited….  And if you are in the Indiana area on the 30th the Schacht Fleece Farm is hosting a shearing, stop in and say hi to Jael and her friends..Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Dyeing Blues Naturally

This was my last dye class and it wasn’t a dissapointment.  Wow we worked with Indigo and Logwood.  Guess what, i got to tye dye a shirt just like the old days of hippydom.  Who would have guessed, the Queen a hippy, not quite but I do remember them.  We did have cameras back then and they were more advanced than a Brownie. Well anyway Indigo is a very strong dye, along with Logwood so you have to be careful not to turn everything blue, blue, blue.  The colors are very rich though and I dipped my beautiful, yellows into the indigo and came out with fabulous greens. Go figure.  Well now i just have to decide what to knit up with  my array of dye stuff.  If you have suggestions send them don’t be shy. Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

And I am spinning up some wonderful colors of fiber.  This is 2 oz of a limited edition from Capistrano Fiber Arts Studio handpainted by Lori Lawson.  50% Alpaca/50% Blue Face LeicesterWool.  I picked it up in California a couple years back, before I had a spinning wheel because of the color way.  Did I ever do good work, this is a beauty to spin.Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketPhoto Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Then to make matters even more interesting i picked up this hand made loom at Three Wishes. The different wood these looms are made of are gorgeous, there was one i liked better, but i went with the size and practicalness. Is that a word? Use up singles and get the weaving bug out of the system….Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketPhoto Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
