Queen Mother turns 80

The Queen Mother turned 80 quietly at home, (so she says ), she went to lunch with her group in St. George and partyed with her sister. We are having the big celebration at the YarnQueens house next month.

IKEA opened in Utah also.  We will wait for a few weeks to make our trek there.   310,000 sq feet will take fortitude to conquer.

Gnomes will play

While at knitting today i found a gome convention going on and wanted to share with Gnome N Clayture, so that he will forgive me for leaving him shuttered up for so long. What do you think? The Henry Gnomes invited him to come over tomorrow.  Great Deal.

Most exciting is our Wednesday knitting group.  These 3 young women have caught the insiration of knitting.  One of the Royal Ladies (previously known as ma kettle) has patiently taught them to knit and now they soar, this was there first crochet project and they like knitting better for now.  The bunnies are done.  Hurray Hurray.  They were supposed to be for Easter but proved to be a little trickier (sp is this a word) than first expected.  The ladies over came and the Royal  Lady is a success in her own right.

And last but not least i thought you would like to see the finished project that at first looked like a giant thong. See previous posts on knitting for explanation.  I think my shrug turned out great, it’s from Knitter’s Fall 2003 edition.   And many thanks to LYS Unraveled Sheep for tuning me into this pattern.  We have had a fun day last week-end it was 90 and today we are trying to get up to 60, so how do you like spring in Utah.  Good thing i have a shrug is all i can say.  … continue reading this entry.

Mad Mad Gnome

I opened my camera bag today and Gnome was hopping mad.. I have no idea what he was saying due to the fact that it was all in gnomize, but i got the idea that it did sound like swearing along with a few other choice things like where have you been for 2 weeks and how can we have a trevel log when I’m  zipped into a bag that never opens.  We even have pictures that could be posted, but no we just leave them in limbo.  Okay well i know i have been remise.  I do have several reasons. One big one is the computers at our residence are not working, and now we have one working it just doesn’t happen to be mine, but the kings and every time i go to use his computer he decides we should do something.  I’m on to him though.  The second item the Queens Mother has been visiting so that makes computer 1 on 1 even harder without the Kings intervention.  Third the last post i did dissappeared, that may have had something to do with the computer thing.

I will try to do better… but then again it is spring and the yard is calling.  no no if you comment i will write, how’s that for a fair trade.

I hope you have been following the Duchesses and Princess P website while i have been playing hooky. You can almost always count on the Duchess to have current posts.  But i am way behind and will try to catch you all up.We are going back a month we are on the road to Seattle, can it almost be a month ago.  The Days of our Lives or How the World Spins to Fast. No wonder i feel like i’m losing my grip. This is the elementary school the King went to when living in Walla Walla, Washington. A few decades ago. Our first stop on the way to Seattle other than the mandatory pit stops for diet coke and to view the restrooms.Dinner inside the Marcus Witman Hotel at the Marc.  Delicious even if they let Gnomes in.  Then to my chagrin we went walking, but i didn’t plan very well because the King was so excited to see his neighborhood we toured the school area and his old home and the park before checking out downtown and the knitting shop.  Drats!!  After dinner we strolled downtown and so i only got to window shop but great window displays at Knitochet, check out their website.  Knitochet.com they are located in Walla Walla. Washington.  After the Kings and my stroll we headed back the our hotel which was not to write home about.  We had a great day and were ready to refuel for the next leg of the road trip.

Birthday Hurrays !!

Horsey Rides We celebrated the Princesses birthday and i forgot to take the picture of the cake.  Where do i leave my brain some days.  The whole idea was to immortalize the cake, because i frosted the said cake and it looked really good.  This is a giant plus, because although i have made and frosted over a 100 angel food birthday cakes i still am challenged by applying the frosting.  It may be a mental block of some kind, or dizlexia or mothers challenge, or left brain day.  Who knows.  Anyway i forgot to take the picture.  So you get to see Grandpa the King giving horsey rides,  and my new grandson who i couldn’t find when i picked him up at school.  He has no hair, its a good thing he recognized his grandma or we would have been calling out the lost kid patrol.  Prince B gave him a little haircut over the week-end.   Anyway enjoy the picks we enjoyed the cake.  Delious….

St George the land of Red Sand

Well we may be coming to an end of a 2 year journey.  Starting back in May 2005 i received a phone call explaining that our condo was full of water and i mean 2 feet of water and rising.  The tree in the back yard that we had been trying to get the homeowners assoc. to remove had broken a pipe and caused the line into our condo and backyard to spew water for 2 or 3 days.  Thus filling our basement up just like a bucket.  Then the process of fighting with the homeowners and having to prove the water did not run up hill, but did seek the path of least resistance and ran down and sprayed across the backyard to fill up both window wells and then the basement.  That it did not break at our valve inside the wall and then run up the pipe out the back and across the yard into another window well.  At the time it had been only 2 months since St George had a 100 year flood and then Hurricane Katrina hit.   Our homeowners insurance was overcome with claiams and St George along with haveing a housing boom was useing all handiman and buileders to put themselves back together.   It took us 6 months to receive partial payment then another 6 months to try and line up the work.  We couldn’t get bathroom cabinets in St George but had to order them in SLC and drive them down.  The work was slow and not particularly very good.  When your brother does perfect work it’s hard to accept everyday stuff.  As we continued on we decided to take a wall out of the upstars to make the kitchen more user friendly.  The Brother and cohart agreeed to go down and do the work, here are the pictures of the fantastic work they did in removing a wall and painting finishing and putting in a floor and door in a week.

the last picture is of the downstairs and the lamp i painted.  The lamp was southwest style white with pink & blue and now although you can’t see it very well it is orange with a brown glaze over it.  Very classy looking.   I will also add a few other photos of the upstairs and downstairs.

the gourds are dyed along with my hardwood kitchen floor (but that is another story)  from the MW garden and N Rockwell is back on the wall along with the chorus line, that you can’t see.
