Schack and I are doing better

The Duchess made a strong point of practice makes perfect in the art of spinning.  Well being the good Queen that i am i took her advice under advisement and have to agree.  Schack and i are doing better, so now i am considering a traveling wheel to go with me like knitting needles and yarn.  Possibly that will open up the idea to the King that we should travel a bit more than around the yard.  Well we will see for now we have an 80th birthday celebration to tackle and a youth trek in Wyoming to tackle and then we start preparing for W.

But for now we have spun up some bobbins

And then we were so excited about the fiber we won from random picks on Yarnnation that we decided to spin it up next.  What do you think, fabulous colors right.  Just leave your comments below.  It’s very easy to do.

Good Reading

Just a short note on a good read if you are so inclined  It’s called “THE HIDING PLACE” the life story of Corrie Ten Boom, her life in Dutch Harlaam during WWII and her time in a German consentration camp and life after the war.  It is moving and powerful with a testimony of faith that probably will cause you to pause and reflect on your own life and faith.

Sewing Sewing Sewing along

The Princess P and I have b een sewing up a storm.  We finished W bassenett set, sheet and blanket and they are precious, we then finished another blanket for J H, which has been nearly done for a while but has been in time out because of the circustances of its origin.  (Some quilt stores gouge you and then some when you shop with them, which it turn causes the Queen to have a temper tantrum, and think evil thoughts of others.  Which I am sure isn’t very nice but it does make me feel better, especially the warning to others about shopping at the store.)  The Princess P and I still have a lot to do but we have been good and are working on what we have without adding to much more to the to get done list.  Of course we didn’t say how old W would be when all his blankets are finished, but I think early teens is good.  Let’s those rough boys know they are still loved.  And if we don’t get done by then we can always start a hope chest for his posterity. LOLDoesn’t this brown mienke just make you want to cubble up in it, I think W will feel the same, so i’m excited to get this done, and then a little retro baseball the Princess P picked out to celebrate PBTB.

Girls Camp 2007

Well if you have never been to Girls Camp you have missed an experience that can’t be described, the spirit, support, love, fun and freezing nights with lots of rocks to sleep on are things that testimonies are built on.  So off the King and Queen went to somewhere up the mountains.  Exit 150 to be as exact as i know, and there we camped and cooked for our combined wards Young Women.  There are flush toilets, but they are on restricted teepee usage (somebody didn’t mind the sign that reads) if you do a #2 flush, wipe, flush, wipe with only 4 squares at a time or else we will have a clogged toilet.Of course Gnome lounged around while the rest of us worked our butts off.  Gnome N Clayture definately has it made, ride around in the camera case pop out with the camera and jump into the main event.   It’s a good thing he is so good looking.  We have pictures of cooking, skitting, having fun and just kicking back. Some of us ate tooo…  It was all great

and we brought back all our campers.Putting up humanitarian kits for the church to have for emergency.Learning how to play Big Budda, I’m to dislexic, so not a game for me.

Visiting Grandchildren…the best

What a treat to look out the window and see a small John Deere Jeep parked out in the parking area.  Especially when it has two visitors Sister Sue and Big Brother P.  They did bring their Mom but she had to run along behind the Jeep.  That was funny.  After Big Brother had dinner with the Queen Mother they came over to visit Grandma Queen Ann, and we drove around the lane until Sister Sue fell out trying to push brother out, woops.  At that point the King got out the big rhino of a 4 wheeler and took Big Brother for a ride which is lots of fun and no one falls out because its seat belted.  What a great way to end and afternoon between unpacking from Seattle and  packing for girls camp.  And of course Gnome N Clayture jumped on the jeep for a ride, check the windshield.

Upwardly Mobile Gnome

Gnome is off traveling to Seattle and enjoying his new toy a Garmin StreetPilot 550. Gnome is really impressed with this new gadjet and will expect Dave to carry it always when traveling.  We are celebrating the Dukes Graduation from Pharmacy School Washington University, the #1 school in the nation. Impressive…   We are also finding out what the Yarnnation alien is, you know boy or girl alien.  Check out the Duchesses blog.

We fly in Wednesday and introduce Gnome to Maggie and Logan ( who trys to eat Gnome N Clayture how rude). He then took a nap on the wall art and introduced himself to the DukeThen we are all hungry and are doing a grand dinner celebration at The Palasaide on the bay in lovely downtown Seattle.  We forgot to take pictures of the food (sorry) it was very good.  The service was absolutely supurb, just enough not too much attention and a view to write home about.  The Duke and I had stuffed Halibut rolled in a crust, and the King and Duchess had copper head salmon.  First we started with the  Maytag & Pear salad, mummmm.  We laughed at Gnome who fell in the water glass trying to be cool instead he just got wet.  He was going to show you the live trout but i restrained him, Queens don’t really do well jumping in water features to rescue rogue gnome.  The King had a beautiful bananna split, with a fancy name which made me forget what i had.  It will come to me later.

Camp & Babies

Yes, Margaret i have been busy it must be the beginning of summer.  That means the Dukes graduation this week in Seattle. Another pharmacist in the family, Hurray!  Then home to pack for girls camp therefore i will show you our camp flag.  I bet you can’t guess what the theme for camp is this year. That is correct handcart pioneers to go along with the Trek which is in July.  The King and I are going as a Ma & Pa and we will have 8 children to shepard for 4 days.  Yes we are accepting luck and condolences from one and all.  That brings us to the apron. This is where i want to scream… I edited this but it refuses to edit on the blog. Stupid thing…  Anyway the dress is also done after much consternation and Queen Mother intervention.  I just need to put dress and apron on body and take picture. Relativly easy you would think.  Anyway you will have to wait for that.

I have been spinning, yes that is correct Margaret, spinning with Schack(the wheel).  We are getting along better as time progresses.  This is the fiber that i got at Weaving Works in Seattle on our road trip to see the Duke and Duchess.  Now i just have to figure out what to turn it into. Problems Problems. Gnome was sunning himself out in the back yard, we have been having some beautifully warm days.

If you look very carefully you will see another Gnome cousin on the wall in the left hand picture.  The royal dogs Johnny Cash & Sophie.

Gnome working on the Camp Flag and finishing up the Chunky Monkey Sweater.  Surprise Post of sweater.  Progress Progress.  Gnome is everywhere.

Showers and it’s not even raining…

Guess what that means baby showers.    Yes Princess P and a baby W shower on Saturday.  The hostesses were Rachel, Marsha and MarshaRachelGretchenGretchen who is trying to escape without a pick. Not with the queen behind the camera, and we all know who is the food expert that leaves a house hostess.  There you are. Ribbon sandwiches and ice cream cake, sparkling punch.  mmmmmm.  Then the games were refreshing and different the funniest was Sister Sue watching all the grown-ups sniffing diapers and expecting them, sticking fingers in the mess.  She told us that is was disgusting.

Then we need to show off the Queens latest knitting project that Princess P is modeling and the Duchess needs to get going and finish hers because they are really cute. This is the Marcellina Vest from Simply Shetland.  I knit this one in Debbie Bliss Cotton Cashmere, since it’s summer here and the Princess  is 7 months along.  It really turned out beautiful to toot my own horn a bit.  I crocheted around  the arms and neck and then finished with the crab stitch that Rene Dickey demonstrated in her finishing class.  Princess P received some absolutely wonderful gifts.  Our knitting guild was on the invite list as well a dear aunts and cousins who out did themselves.  Here are a few pictures to enjoy.
