Reflection

A calm Monday before Valentines and Utah suddenly became front page news with the shootings at Trolley Square.  I believe i am a calm rational person, but this event some how struck a different cord.  This is a place that we visit often a favorite shopping and dining area I had to calm myself and found i couldn’t watch the news, posssibly a sign of age.   Our son was working across the street at the time and a business associates husband lost his life and her son is still in the hospital.  Tragedy of a magnatude that is hard to deal with and answers that will never be answered.  Why?  What was going on in this world?  Who was this disturbed young man?   The outpouring of love and compassion for the victims and the families along with the parents of the young man and and the policeman who had to take his life to protect others helped me right my world.  WE think of ourselves as strong and smart, but we are all so very fragile.  I needed to get back and make it possible to move forward.   The princess and i visited Trolley Square last week and it was eery, but i felt a calm and knew i would be able to return again for regular visits, even if there will always remain a catch in my heart for the tragedy that occured that Monday evening.  I love my family and am grateful to live in a place that will open their hearts to help and comfort in time of need.  Take care, give an extra hug to those you care about and smile that your reflection will help lift the spirits of those all around you.

UNDERWEAR ! not really

It may seem that after looking through Creative Knitting that i got a bee in my bonnett or needles and decided to whip up a winter size Rulon Gardner wrestler speedo.  If you haven’t seen the Creative Knitting it is filled with lingerie. More power to any of you who can stand to wear a knitted bra or thong.  Yuck and double Yuck.  Sorry just a humble opion. Yuck gag gag….Yuck.  Oh the speedo is really going to be a shrug from the 2004 Fall Knitters Magazine.  Hopefully to be posted in finished state soon.

St George the land of Red Sand

Well we may be coming to an end of a 2 year journey.  Starting back in May 2005 i received a phone call explaining that our condo was full of water and i mean 2 feet of water and rising.  The tree in the back yard that we had been trying to get the homeowners assoc. to remove had broken a pipe and caused the line into our condo and backyard to spew water for 2 or 3 days.  Thus filling our basement up just like a bucket.  Then the process of fighting with the homeowners and having to prove the water did not run up hill, but did seek the path of least resistance and ran down and sprayed across the backyard to fill up both window wells and then the basement.  That it did not break at our valve inside the wall and then run up the pipe out the back and across the yard into another window well.  At the time it had been only 2 months since St George had a 100 year flood and then Hurricane Katrina hit.   Our homeowners insurance was overcome with claiams and St George along with haveing a housing boom was useing all handiman and buileders to put themselves back together.   It took us 6 months to receive partial payment then another 6 months to try and line up the work.  We couldn’t get bathroom cabinets in St George but had to order them in SLC and drive them down.  The work was slow and not particularly very good.  When your brother does perfect work it’s hard to accept everyday stuff.  As we continued on we decided to take a wall out of the upstars to make the kitchen more user friendly.  The Brother and cohart agreeed to go down and do the work, here are the pictures of the fantastic work they did in removing a wall and painting finishing and putting in a floor and door in a week.

the last picture is of the downstairs and the lamp i painted.  The lamp was southwest style white with pink & blue and now although you can’t see it very well it is orange with a brown glaze over it.  Very classy looking.   I will also add a few other photos of the upstairs and downstairs.

the gourds are dyed along with my hardwood kitchen floor (but that is another story)  from the MW garden and N Rockwell is back on the wall along with the chorus line, that you can’t see.

Baby Baby oh Baby

Upon ordering a box load of pinks, lavendars and lovely soft girl colors, because we know that this baby is a girl, some crazy guy with an ultra sound says woops it looks like a boy to me.  Yikes !  Back to the drawing board and books.  Do i remember seeing any sweaters that were for boys?   The Princess and Prince are starting with a prince Pea.  WE are so excited, we may burst before he gets here.  Hurray for babies.

Baby Trousseau Under Construction

The Queen will not be caught off guard you know.  I have just recently finished this lovely blanket in washable Chunky Encore.  I knit it on a larger needle than the pattern called for because the fabric had a softer and more baby like drape to it.  It will now go in the baby trousseau, and some of the back burner projects will move to the forground.

In the mean time we have had an explosion of baby arrivals in the neighborhood so i have been working on baby gifts for the new babes.  Two Boys, Krue and Xiviah (don’t ask) and Sarah.

We’re having a baby !!

We’ll i’m not but the Princess P is, look what i got in the mail and guess who cried.  Yes that would be me the proud Grandma.  I really can’t believe my eyes oh now it’s time to start knitting up all sorts of baby wonders.

I have been in touch with the Duchess to pick out some yarn that will be royaly suited for a Prince or Princess Pea.
